I am doing fine. I am enjoying my stay here. [ Pause. ] Cisco has been mentoring me, under the Whisperers.

She did seem like the only one who could handle you.

[Half-teasing, but also with an undertone of understanding. It's almost like she totally gets what you mean because she might have BEEN that girl in the past.]

[ She smiles at that. ]

She did say she had to rescue the girl partnered with me. [ Well, not exactly, but yeah. Pretty much. ]

[Chuckles.]

That does sound like a Cisco thing to say.

[Speaking with open fondness of the Reynardi now. Whodathunk, given the fact that Kalika is kind of really a jaguar.]

[ Yeah, Yulia agrees. ]

I like her. I did not think we would get along.

Oh? What made you think that?

[She can guess, but it well. Conversation is always a Thing.]

[ She looks at Kalika and gives her a wry smile. ]

I am not the type to get along with everyone, Magistrate.

Fair enough. I think that's something that you and I have in common, though.

[ She tilts her head back a little. From what she can tell, Kalika might be a hardass, but compared to her, the Magistrate does better at socializing ]

I don't think I see that.

That's only because I'm well into my sixties and not the wild little shit that I used to be.

[Oh. Wait.]

Okay, so I'm STILL wild. But now I'm also old.

Well, you look really good for someone in her sixties.

Anyway, being human takes practice for people like us. Cisco helped me a lot with that... she was one of my first friends outside of Zangyaku.

[bostova]

She does have a certain way of suddenly... wheedling herself into your life.

[ She's amused, smiling. She knows she probably does need a few more friends, and Cisco is definitely a friend to her as well. ]

She does, doesn't she?

[So very amused.]

It's hard to believe that I was so angry at her for a time. I had my reasons, though.

[ Admittedly, she's curious, but she won't pry. ]

Everything worked out in the end, at least.

Generally. I just console myself with the thought that it could have been worse.

[Canting her head at Yulia.]

You can ask her about it someday, or she'll end up telling you. She seems to trust you, at any rate.

I guess it goes both ways. I trust her, too, so I will wait. [ If Cisco tells her, then she tells her. If Cisco doesn't, then that's fine, too. ]

That's good to hear. Not a lot of people know how to do that.

[She has Stories, girlfriend. Stories.]

[And turning, going deeper into the forest. She's pretty sure there's nothing around, sigh.

People do find it easier to do one thing at a time.

[ Yulia is... actually one of those people. She is also hoping that there is something in the forest, at least. ]

Eh, doing more than one thing at once just takes practice.

[Looking amused, because yes, she totally pins you for being the kind of one-track-minded soldier.]

[ It's not like she tries to hide it. Although, in hindsight, she should be. ]

Practice takes a while to be perfect.

Good thing you've got the time, right?

[Yeah, you're a Bladian. Who cares? Time is what you make of it, in Kalika's opinion.
